Now that Lana Del Rey has millions of fans in her grasp, she's not letting go. She dropped the critically acclaimed Ultraviolence in 2014, and is already looking forward to a third major label LP.
"I can see it and I can hear it," she told the LA Times. "I'm working on a new record now, and I have this one song, 'Music to Watch Boys To'. The title lends itself to a visual of shadows of men passing by, this girl's eyes, her face. I can definitely see things."
Del Rey is known for her offbeat lyrics, which have featured choruses about the marriage gradient, death and video games.
"I choose to write about what I know," she told Galore last month. "I choose not to discuss those stories any further than my music. It doesn't make things easy for me publicly or in interviews and I do interviews because I believe the music is good enough for me to support it as best I can."
Del Rey has received blowback in the past for poor live performances and what some people have deemed a fake personality.
"Sometimes when the things you say and the way you look don't add up - people are quick to label you as an impersonator or feel like you're not entitled to the life experiences you've really lived," she said.
Love her or hate her, she's not going anywhere. Del Rey just announced in December that a new album was in the works.
"Yeah, I just wrote two songs for Tim Burton and Harvey Weinstein's film called 'Big Eyes' and I'm working on a new record," she told Galore last month. "I'm also always writing small pieces for independent films etc. Dan Heath and Rick Nowels are two of my dearest friends and producers and we are always up to something."
Check out her recent single, "West Coast," which found its way onto several year-end lists, including ours.
