Consequence of Sound is reporting that Bruce Springsteen will release a "new" song called "High Hopes" tomorrow (November 19) — citing Danish music service Wimp, who reported news of the song's release over the weekend as well as song's supposed artwork.
According to the article, "High Hopes" isn't technically a new track but rather a song originally released by Scott McConnell's band The Havalinas in 1990 and covered by Springsteen on his 1996 EP Blood Brothers. What would make this track new is Springsteen's reworking of it, as he has done in recent years for songs such as "Land of Hopes and Dreams" on 2012's Wrecking Ball.
CoS also cites a June Rolling Stone article, which reported that Springsteen had begun work on a new album and had spent time in the studio while on tour in Australia. ""We've never had a recording session during a tour in our lives, Springsteen explained. "We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down. So that was very exciting. And being with Tommy was exciting. The band - Steven, Nils, all those guys - continues to be a source of inspiration for me."
So it look like a new song wouldn't be completely out of the question, but we will have to wait until tomorrow to know for sure.
