Dillon Francis has been touring in Asia and Australia recently and sat down with Kyran Wheatley on Australian radio station Triple J to discuss a variety of topics including becoming Australian by doing a "shoey," making an MTV pilot and upcoming music. Watch the stunt in the Instagram video below.
The interview starts out by discussing his time in Australia and closing out the large summer festival, Field Day, where he unofficially became a citizen by doing a "shoey" — an act where you drink a beer from a shoe.
They go on to discuss his music, including the very meta, remixception where producers have the opportunity to remix Francis's remix of deadmau5 "Some Chords."
"Ultra [Records] wanted to do it [the contest], and I thought it was a cool idea ... kind of like the Madeon thing that happened for Pendulum — that's what we did. Hopefully we find the next Madeon."
As they discuss remixing, the Mad Decent producer coyly reveals he is doing a remix of "Imperium," but hasn't completed the tune yet because "I haven't had time to sit down and finish it"
They discuss Dillon Francis's many different personas and Dillon reveals that he is filming a show pilot with MTV.
"I think I can talk about this now ... I got a pilot for MTV. So I'm doing a show on MTV that we're starting to film this year. We'll see if they accept it, but we're going to be filming the pilot in January. DJ Hanzel and Trevor will not be in the show because I want to keep the rights to my characters and they want to keep them."
