As previously reported, legendary folk singer Bob Dylan was chosen as the 2015 MusiCares Person of the Year by the Recording Academy. Now Billboard reports that Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will be presenting the award next month in Los Angeles.
The Recording Academy also announced that Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, and Jack White will perform at the pre-Grammy show Feb. 6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center along with Beck; the Black Keys; Crosby, Stills & Nash; Norah Jones; Tom Jones; Los Lobos; John Mellencamp; Bonnie Raitt; Eddie Vedder; Neil Young; and John Doe. Don Was will serve as the event's musical director
Back in September when Dylan was announced as the award recipient, MusiCares Foundation Board Chairman Bill Silva praised Dylan's songwriting ability, calling it "unmatched."
"It will be an extraordinary evening to hear his work showcased by such a remarkable group of artists," he said.
Founded in 1989 by the Recording Academy, MusiCares is a nonprofit that provides medical assistance to musicians in need. All profits from the annual Person of the Year Gala go toward the MusiCares Foundation.
Dylan's "body of creative work has contributed to America's culture, as well as that of the entire world, in genuinely deep and lasting ways," said Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy and the MusiCares Foundation, in September.
Other recipients of the MusiCares Person of the Year Award in recent years include Carole King, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand and Neil Young. The award dates back to 1991 and was first given to David Crosby.
The 57th annual Grammy Awards will take place Feb. 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, airing live on CBS starting at 8 p.m. EST.
Bob Dylan is also among the 2015 class of Grammy Hall of Fame inductees and recently announced his new album Shadows in The Night, which is due out Feb. 3 via Columbia Records.
