First of all: our apologies to the Lady Gaga fans we offended by suggesting that the stats provided by Nielsen Soundscan were factual evidence that Lady Gaga's new album ARTPOP is selling poorly in relation to previous album Born This Way. There is good news however, which will hopefully distract your rage at us. The Mother Monster still hasn't announced any formal tour in support of the album (aside from a December 8 show in London), but she will be making a historic run in her hometown of New York City. It was announced on Tuesday that Gaga will perform a four night run as the final concerts at the historic Roseland Ballroom on March 28, 30, 31, and April 2, 2014.
For fans, this is about as excellent an opportunity to see Gaga outside of the small ARTPOP previews she hosted. Roseland has a capacity of 3,200, about one-sixth the seats at a more typical venue such as Madison Square Garden. It may not be a small venue per se, but it will offer a far more intimate Gaga experience than we're used to (we were about a thousand feet back at Lollapalooza '10).
As such, those who aim to see Gaga at the Roseland need to get on it. Tickets don't go on sale until November 25 for plebeians, but members of the Little Monster fan club can register today for a chance to get tickets (November 19). And there are a lot of little monsters out there to snap up available tickets. Prices are $50 for floor access, and $200 to get up on the mezzanine.
Roseland, a converted ice rink, has hosted everyone from The Rolling Stones to Beyonce during its stand at its current location on 52nd Street. It was announced during October that the building would be closed, ultimately to be replaced by a residential tower.
