More bands announced to play at Austin's SXSW music festival

It's that time of year again. Festival lineups are starting to role out and fans are beginning to scan the lists to decide where they need to be to see their favorites next year. The annual South by Southwest music festival has announced a bunch of new artists that will perform at the 2014 installment in Austin from March 11-16.

Out of the 348 names in the announcement from the organizers, with many more to come as it gets closer, there are some standouts, like Phantogram, Black Lips, G. Love, Ha Ha Tonka, Talib Kewli, synth-pop mastermind Gary Numan, Yip Deceiver, A Tribe Called Red and NONONO, the Swedish band we wrote about from this years CMJ Festival at NYC's Mercury Lounge

Some of the bigger names will likely come just at the last minute, which was the case this year for the festival with Justin Timberlake, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Iggy & the Stooges.

The press release noted that although the festival has announced about 500 bands thus far, there will still be many more to add up to the total number of about 2,200 bands.

In addition to all of the musical acts, Rolling Stone says: "The conference has also begun announcing several of its music industry-focused panel discussions. Among the 85 announced so far are panels addressing the 'New Era of A&R,' different approaches to concert marketing and one billing itself as 'Heavy Metal Entrepreneurship: A PhD Study.'"
