There's no denying that Ed Sheeran is a big storyteller. From "Don't" to "Lego House" to "Thinking Out Loud" and "A Team," the singer-songwriter always paints a portrait with his lyricism and intimate songwriting. And now, Sheeran will be an official VH1 storyteller by reviving and leading up a reinstatement of VH1 Storytellers Live.
Sheeran will usher in a new era of the VH1 Storytellers series with a live streamed concert on Saturday, Jan. 24, VH1 reports.
For the live concert event, Sheeran is going back to his musical roots, paying tribute to the artist who inspired him: Damien Rice. Sheeran will be performing at Whelan's in Dublin, Ireland, where he first saw Rice perform.
"It's amazing to come back to perform at a place that means so much to me personally," Sheeran said in a statement. "I was only about 11 or 12 years old when I saw Damien play at Whelan's, and that night literally changed my life. The time he spent talking with me after the show made all the difference. It inspired me in a way that I only hope to do for someone else."
Like all incarnations of VH1 Storytellers, Sheeran will not only play his hits from his albums + and x, but he'll also share insights about his songs, moments from his life and his inspirations - basically, it's a Sheeran fan's major dream.
Sheeran's episode of VH1 Storytellers Live will air Sunday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on VH1. His latest album, x, was released in June 2014.
