Yesterday we reported that Andre 3000 and Big Boi might be reuniting as Outkast. And guess what? The rumors are true! Revolt TV was the first to confirm the news noting that "the reunion is currently set to exist solely in the live setting, with no new album plans in sight, for now."
This return will mark the Atlanta duo's first appearance together onstage since 2004, and comes at the 20-year anniversary of their debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.
As Revolt notes, Big Boi has been vocal in expressing interest in a return for the group. Earlier this year he told Power 106, "We've been kind of discussing some things. ...Once we map it out, we'll make an announcement. But we'll see. It's 20 years, man. ...I wanna see it, too. I definitely wanna see it, too. Mum's the word right now. But we gon' see."
Andre 3000 on the other hand has never quite committed to the idea but as Revolt again notes, his verse on T.I.'s "Sorry" hinted at his interest in a reunion as well.
"The type of sh*t that'll make you call your rap partner / and say I'm sorry I'm awkward, my fault for f**kin' up the tours / I hated all the attention so I ran from it / F**k it if we did, but I hope we ain't lose no fans from it / I'm a grown-ass kid, you know ain't never cared about no damn money / why do we try so hard to be stars, just to dodge comments?"
As for where the band will reunite, longtime Outkast collaborator and Dungeon Family member Sleepy Brown has confirmed via Instagram that the duo will be headlining Coachella in 2014.
Back in October 2012, Sleepy Brown suggested the reunion in an interview saying, "We got the 20th anniversary of Outkast coming next year ...it's coming together now."
Outkast won't be the first band to reunite in the desert. The Pixies got back together at Coachella in 2004; Rage Against the Machine did it in 2007 and Pavement in 2010.
Other tour dates have not yet been announced for the reunion. But Revolt suspects an appearance in April at Atlanta's CounterPoint Festival.
