Music Vault: Talking Heads
The black-and-white footage shows the group during an important time in its history — check out the video and setlist below. They had just released their fourth album, Remain in Light, which shook up the musical landscape at the time. More importantly, it marked the halfway point of the band's recorded history: Talking Heads dropped four more albums, with the last being 1988's Naked. They disbanded shortly thereafter.
Talking Heads reunited for three songs in 2002 for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Byrne has been adamant about not reuniting again ever since.
The singer has been able to carve out a successful solo career. In recent years, Byrne has teamed up with Brian Eno (2008's Everything That Happens Will Happen Today) and St. Vincent (2012's Love This Giant).
Weymouth talked about the possibility of a reunion with Rolling Stone in 2013.
"You'll have to ask David Byrne about that," she said. "We never ended Talking Heads ourselves. That's entirely in his court. We never had a fight. I don't see why there shouldn't be a reunion. On the other hand, I'm not going to hold my breath because life goes on. Life is too short to sit around moaning about what could have been or what was. We are in touch with the band and we all would love to do it, but we can't do it without David."
