T-Pain continues his campaign to prove he doesn't need the help of Auto-tune with a new emotional ballad called "Say The Word (I'm Gone)." Even the haters aren't hating on the R&B crooner anymore. At time of publishing, all comments on the video were extremely positive.
"Why do we do this/ Why do we chase after dreams, so stupid, so useless/ Why am I foolish/ Why am I made out to be translucent?" he sings over subtle piano as he harmonizes with himself.
Earlier this month, T-Pain announced a joint mixtape hosted by DJ Drama called The Iron Way, part of Drama's Gangsta Grillz series.
T-Pain is also working on his next studio album, Stoicville: The Phoenix, which is due out sometime this year. He dropped his Lil Wayne-featuring single "Let Me Through" last month and previously released the tracks "Stoicville," "Coming Home," and "Keep On." Although a full tracklist has yet to be revealed, the upcoming album will be T-Pain's fifth overall, his first studio effort since 2011's Revolver.
The Tallahassee rapper recently sat down with Larry King to talk about his upcoming album.
"Stoicville is more truthful to me," he explained. "It's things that's in my heart instead of trying to make hits... It's not about if people get it or not. It's about if I'm singing from my heart and making lyrics that resonate with me and not just making people dance in the club all the time."
He says that the changes and decisions he's making in his career right now have made him a much happier person.
"I'm much happier," he revealed to King. "I've never been this happy in the music industry in my life."
Neither of his upcoming projects have been given officially release dates, and it is unknown whether "Say The Word (I'm Gone)" will be part of Stoicville or whether it's just a one-off.
