Once again the actual album sales were a near clone to their cohort the Billboard 200 this week, with some subtle reorganizations going on. Taylor Swift was at the top with 1989 once again, selling 111,000 copies of her album. Just last week she had her first slot with less than 200,000 in sales for 2015's bestselling album and now it looks like she may drop below 100,000 next week. On the plus side, Swift is at 3.94 million total units moved for the album, meaning it will most likely reach quadruple-platinum in the next seven days.
One album that once again got a big boost from the pure album sales outlook was Guardians of The Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1, which was only available as an album purchase. The collection sold 35,000 copies.
As we mentioned yesterday, things get interesting in spots nos. 3-6 as all four albums sold in the vicinity of 34,000 copies. Ed Sheeran was the highest placer in that range with x, while this week's only new album-SremmLife by Rae Stremmurd-came in at no. 4. That album was followed by J. Cole and Forest Hills Drive, which was consequently followed by Nicki Minaj and The Pinkprint, which took no. 6 with nearly 34,000 in sales.
Sam Smith continues to hang around, albeit sliding a few spots to no. 7 with In The Lonely Hour, which sold 30,000 copies.
Another album to crack the Top 10 thanks to pure album tracking was Into The Woods, which stayed in the Top 10 despite dropping to an estimated 24,600 in sales this week (provided by Hits Daily Double). Hozier returned to the Top 10 with his self-titled album, which sold 20,000 copies. Annie was another soundtrack to stay in the Top 10, taking the last spot with 16,750 in estimated sales.
No album in the Top, with the exception of SremmLife, saw a boost in sales from last week.
