Review: Justin Bieber new song 'Alone' hits the web, reveals reason behind Selena Gomez split in upbeat manner [LISTEN]

Justin Bieber may have just released his eighth Music Mondays single "Rollercoaster," but that isn't the only new song from the teen idol fans will get to hear this week. "Alone," the song that was originally teased as a Music Mondays release has now hit the web, courtesy of Beliebers who pre-ordered tickets to see the Biebz's upcoming concert documentary Believe.

"Alone" fits in well with the flow of Bieber's Music Mondays singles. The track is markedly more upbeat than some of the series' early offerings but "Alone" is a nice compliment to "Rollercoaster."

The up-tempo track similarly features heavy '90s R&B influence, with bouncy drums and smooth, smooth instrumentation. Bieber controls the higher register of his voice in "Alone," avoiding the ear-piercing tones of some other Music Mondays track and proves he can, in fact, croon along with the best of them.

As for the lyrical content of the song, "Alone" also follows the Music Mondays motif of addressing some heartbreak.

"We were inseparable / Everything I ever had to do I did it next to you / Memories we made were so incredible / Then our love was interrupted by my schedule / There was nothing that I could do / 'Cause you fell into the deepest depression, baby," Bieber sings in the opening verse, blatantly telling fans the cause of his break up with Selena Gomez.

The rest of the track finds Bieber feeling regretful about the end of the relationship, feeling sorry for leaving his Stars Dance beauty all "Alone." As most of his recent singles, the track feels revelatory, all while maintaining a hook-filled pop sensibility.

"Alone" is not yet a part of Bieber's Music Mondays series, and it's unknown whether the track will be included as a part of the music journals project. As for now, "Alone" is available for Beliebers to download alongside a pre-ordered ticket to Believe on ticket service Fandango.
