BEATGASM is the Streaming Service for EDM Fans

Streaming is the future of music consumption whether or not Taylor Swift likes it and with that comes new companies that want to get in one the action and create a solution within one market niche. Streaming giants like Spotify, Pandora, Rhapsody, Deezer and Beats Music currently dominate the overall market, but there are plenty of new applications and platforms being created all of the time to try and fill voids within the marketplace. BEATGASM is a new service that looks to take advantage of the exploding dance music marketplace with an EDM exclusive on-demand streaming service, much in the same model as a Pandora.

The service couples over 100 curated radio stations and the ability to search through their growing library of songs from artists of all genres. The various stations include those revolving around a certain artist and their sound, or curated to fit a genre. It has something for all tastes.

One new feature in the platform is the local stations, which highlight local trends in a specific city and the artists who hail from that specific area. Current featured cities include: Miami, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, San Juan, Washington, D.C. and Boston, with New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Austin, and London to come in the following months.

At the moment, the platform is completely ad free, though they will be eventually integrated into it. The service, founded by Miami DJs, Erik Velez, Jeff Rimmer and Edgar Villamil, has worked out deals with the majors, allowing it to stay compliant in lieu of serving ads to help pay for royalties. An app for iPhone and Android will be available for download in two weeks.

Going forward, the struggle, just as it is for all streaming companies, will be to find a sustainable source of revenue. There are no plans for a "premium" model at the moment according to the company, but that may have to change if ads don't suffice. It will be interesting to see if it can find a loyal following not only in the U.S., but also worldwide.
