Nicki Minaj has already opened up plenty about her personal life and struggles on her new album The Pinkprint, and now she's getting even more open. Over the weekend, MTV aired its follow-up to its 2010 Minaj documentary, Nicki Minaj: My Time Now, fittingly titled Nicki Minaj: My Time Again. And now Barbz who missed the documentary the first time around can watch it online in full.
Nicki Minaj: My Time Now shows an incredibly vulnerable side of Minaj. The cameras were there for the recording of her new album The Pinkprint, where the seemingly touch emcee breaks down upon hearing the Jessie Ware featuring track "The Crying Game." Minaj also breaks down in tears after an encounter with her 4-year-old niece and after her now-infamous wardrobe malfunction during the "Bang Bang" portion of the 2014 VMAs.
The documentary also shows the behind-the-scenes operations of Minaj and the rollout of The Pinkprint. Though it may seem like the major rapper and her dedicated fans may not have much say in what happens in regards to release dates, the very opening scene shows that the opposite is true.
In the middle of talking about how she's "not where I want to be yet," Minaj gets a phone call saying the music video for "Anaconda" is ready and set to premiere. But, she's hesitant of a midnight drop due to her rehearsal schedule. So she asks her fans if they want it at midnight or 9 a.m. The Barbz, who have an "attitude" ask for it at midnight. As Minaj personally scrolls through her tweets, she makes a decision and history was made.
It's an insightful look into the life and career of a rap star who is typically so elusive. And now, fans can watch (and re-watch) the video over and over again.
