Hall & Oates talk plans for new music, reissues

Hall and Oates fans, get excited. The duo has announced plans to start working on music again. Following the band's first-ever nomination from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, spoke with Billboard about what the future holds for the band.

"Daryl [Hall] and I are actually thinking about doing a single," John Oates told them. "We don't really see a need to actually do an album. We're actually interested in kind of mining our deep, deep catalog, which we feel has been overshadowed by the success of our No. 1 records. I don't mean that to sound arrogant; it's a really great problem to have, is that people know us so much for our hits. We feel we have so much interesting music that we created over the years, we want to somehow bring that back out to the public."

The band is began that catalogue-mining with Sony's reissue of Do What You Want, Be What You Are, a 74-song career-spanning set, which came out in September. According to Billboard, Hall & Oates have charted 22 albums and 43 songs

In terms of new material, Oates will release his fourth solo album, Good Road To Follow, which will be comprised of a series of collaborative singles he has released online every month since May.
