Well Pixies fans were disappointed when they first learned that bassist Kim Deal wouldn't be with the band on their most recent tour. Then, Kim Shattuck of The Muffs filled in. But now that the tour has just finished the second Kim has apparently been informed that the band has decided to part ways with her, according to Slicing Up Eyeballs.
The Pixies haven't made any formal statements about the change, but Shattuck went to both Twitter and Facebook last night to share the unfortunate news.
On her Facebook page, she changed her job status to "Left job at PIXIES," and she wrote, "Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.
Last summer it was announced that Deal had quit the band and only weeks after that the Pixies introduced Shattuck as the new touring bassist. In Los Angeles on Sept. 6, Shattuck made her debut with the band at a surprise warm-up gig before the tour. They then toured around the U.S., playing just a few shows, before heading out for a full European tour, which just wrapped.
Now the Pixies are booked to start a longer North American tour starting Jan. 15 in Toronto, and then they will head back over to Europe to play Field Day in London on June 8, 2014. It isn't clear who will be taking over for Shattuck, but it's unlikely that it will be another Kim.
