They seemed to have it all: a music video, a trip to Sea World in Australia over Christmas, dashing good looks - but it seems like crooner and Grammy nominee Sam Smith couldn't make his new boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel stay with him. On Tuesday night (Jan. 20) at a concert in Toronto, the "I'm Not The Only One" singer announced that he and his man of one month had broken up.
Before performing his latest In The Lonely Hour single "Like I Can" at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Smith announced that the song carried an extra weight that night. Earlier that day, he and Zeizel has broken up. The emotional song, which already covers the topic of breaking up, packed an additional punch because Smith and Zeizel met on the set of the track's recent music video.
"This song is very special for me today, because I actually had to do a very similar thing today with someone I've been seeing," Smith said before performing the soaring ballad.

Smith later confirmed the break up yet again on Instagram calling himself a "romantic" and dealing with the split like the rest of us: by drinking red wine and listening to Joni Mitchell.
Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell. It's been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day x Et billede slået op af Sam Smith (@samsmithworld) den Jan 20, 2015 at 9:30 PST
Though heartbreak is never a good thing, perhaps this could fuel some new music from Smith. Which, let's face it, the world could always use.
In the meanwhile, you keep sipping that wine, man. We're here for you.
