Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, two of the greatest living jazz musicians, have announced a dual-headlining world tour that will kick off in Seattle during March. The pair have toured together before but it's been a while, lasting co-headlining during 1978. Both legendary pianists will appear onstage together, according to Billboard. A trek through Australia, Asia and more European dates will reportedly come later this year.
"Chick and I have always had an open door toward the possibility of touring again," Hancock told the publication in an email. "We both felt that enough time has passed since our last major tour in 1978, and considering all of the experiences we have had in music and in life, that this was the perfect time to pass through that doorway again."
Like many of the other big names in the jazz world, Corea and Hancock honed their chops by playing with Miles Davis during the '60s, appearing on albums such as In A Silent Way and Bitches Brew, an influence that certainly appears in their own class works, such as Hancock's Headhunters or Corea's Light As A Feather.
