Residencies sound so...professional. Perhaps that's what Skrillex was thinking when he decided that his multi-day stops in cities around the United States and Europe would be called "Takeovers" instead.
The DJ/producer will be spending February 2014 in four cities around the globe, playing and curating gigs at multiple venues across four cities. It's a return to an idea that Skrillex introduced during 2011, when he took over Los Angeles and New York City. Next year's targets include San Francisco, Brooklyn (a more specific attack than his New York shows of yesteryear), Amsterdam, and Barcelona.
Each city has a separate lineup of guest stars, with San Francisco getting A$AP Rocky and Brooklyn featuring Just Blaze, although surprise guests should be expected. Barcelona hasn't had its full guest-list announced yet, but it will feature at least Alvin Risk, the Washington D.C. DJ with whom Skrillex just released the EP Try It Out.
