The Full House theme song got royal treatment over the weekend when the sitcom's cast sang it while attending the birthday party for show creator Jeff Franklin. Bob Saget, John Stamos and Lori Loughlin were among the talent from the show to take the stage, as well as Candace Cameron (D.J. Tanner on the show). As Billboard points out, the reunion performance didn't include either Mary Kate or Ashley Olsen, nor was second uncle Dave Coulier at the gig.
The video of the performance was posted on Instagram by Andrea Barber, who played Kimmy on the show. She sat out of the performance, apparently having forgotten the lyrics based on her hashtag "#onlyknewthechorus." Other photos from the evening included Cameron and Loughlin looking happier to be there than Saget was (we're bad at getting our photos taken too), and Perez Hilton expressed his pleasure of seeing Stamos and Loughlin back together by scribbling "Becky + Jesse 4ever" on a photo of the pair.
The theme song in question was actually titled "Everywhere You Look," and was performed by Jesse Frederick, a film and television composer who also lent his talents for the themes to shows such as Family Matters and Perfect Strangers. His influence on the show may have gone way farther than just writing the theme song however: The popular rumor that the character of Uncle Jesse, as the "rock 'n' roll" attitude that ran counter to Saget's Danny Tanner, was actually based on Frederick's real life persona.
As for the song, it gained popularity most likely thanks to its unusual opening for a song of its catchy nature, where it asks philosophically "Whatever happened to predictability...the milkman, the paperboy, evening TV?" The cast didn't actually perform the song when it aired on ABC but they, like the rest of the generation that watched it, knew the lyrics just fine.
