The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra is presenting a night of Mozart and Mendelssohn featuring the NJSO's Bart Feller on the flute and Stacey Shames on the harp.
Feller and Shames will perform Mozart's Flute and Harp Concerto, along with other beautiful works such as Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, "Scottish" and The Fair Melusine Overture. Johannes Debus will conduct the February performances.
“Bart and Stacey are great partners in music, and they’ve performed the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto together before,” music director Jacques Lacombe says in a press release. “Bart is one of the [most recognizable] personalities in the orchestra. He’s a great communicator who often speaks at the top of the concerts, and our audiences just love him. Stacey is a really fine artist who appears frequently with the NJSO. The Mozart concerto they will perform is one of those real jewels of the repertoire -- it’s just pure heaven.”
The show will be Feb. 27 to 28 and June 14 in Newark and Redbank. The Feb. 27 performance makes the NJSO’s second College Night, which lets students see the show for only $10 and offers free, round-trip bus transportation to the concert from select New Jersey college campuses.
