It is not secret that Lil Wayne wants off Cash Money Records, the joint partner with his label Young Money for the YMCMB, but according to reports, he does not want to make the move alone. According to a TMZ report, as Lil Wayne wants to keep his whole roster of artists together on Young Money, which includes Drake, Nicki Minaj, Christina Milian, Tyga, Lil Twist and Mack Maine, the president of Young Money. The "Start A Fire" rapper is prepared to sue Birdman to do so after reportedly filing a lawsuit to get the $8 million advance on Tha Carter V back as the album has not been released as of yet.
The issue is not as cut and dried and it might seem with Drake, Minaj and Lil Wayne in one corner and Birdman rubbing his hands in the other. The Young Money artists Wayne wants to bring with him all have distribution deals with Cash Money Records, who in turn has a distribution deal with Universal. This issue of distribution would have to be settled in court.
It is clear though that Lil Wayne doesn't want to fight this fight alone and is determined to bring along his powerful allies. As Weezy says in his "CoCo" remix from Sorry For The Wait 2, "I ain't trippin, I got Barbie... I got Drake too."
Whether or not Drake and Minaj want to be dragged into this whole ordeal is another matter, but it was only a matter of time that the fighting parents would affect the children.
This is the second potential lawsuit that Weezy could levy against Birdman. He is also reportedly taking the Cash Money boss to court for his $8 million advance payment on Tha Carter V since there appears to be no agreement on when the album will be released.
