Ultra Music Festival 2015 Goes Underground With 'Resistance' Stage

Ultra Music Festival is taking a deep dive underground in 2015. Traditionally it has reserved a stage for the old-school house and techno styles of electronic music for Carl Cox and his curated stage, with a smattering of other names across other stages away from the main stage. In 2015, Ultra is making a serious commitment to the underground, giving it two stages, Resistance and Carl Cox and Friends, which has not announced its lineup yet, but he will have to find some names outside those on the Resistance lineup.

These bookings will probably come at the expense of a lot of EDM DJs who have dominated the market in the United States. But as fans discover new types of electronic music, the peaks of popularity in genres are starting to flatten and this is bringing more equilibrium to the space.

Ultra explained the concept of Resistance in a Facebook post:

It's the urge to go against the grain, to step out of the box, to move away from the norm and challenge yourself to experience something new-- to break down boundaries and barriers and abandon your comfort zone-- to be able to open your eyes and ears to an undiscovered realm of electronic music.

Check out the lineup below, which is ordered by set time in descending order, meaning the top name will be the headliner on the stage.

There will be more names announced soon. Tickets are still on sale, so head to the festival's website to purchase them now.
