Madonna paid Taylor Swift a nice compliment recently, and now the young singer is freaking out over it. Basically, Madge is totally into Swift's music, referring to her as one of the "princesses of pop" during a chat with Network Nine's Today show in Australia. After hearing the news of the compliment, Swift scrambled to her Tumblr page to let everyone know that she was hyperventilating over the kind words.
"It's good to have princesses [of pop]. It means there's lots of pretty dresses around. I like Taylor Swift. I think she writes some really catchy pop songs. I can't get them out of my head," the Queen of Pop said.
Swift posted her OMFG response shortly after.
"Thanks now I'm dead," she wrote, following it with hashtags like "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DEAL WITH THIS" and "BE COOL TAYLOR STOP BEING EMBARRASSING."
This marks the first mutual admiration lovefest between the two pop stars. Perhaps we will see the pair perform together down the road, or maybe Madonna will sport a "Taylor" shirt like she did with Kylie Minogue back in the day, as Billboard noted.
While Swift continues her reign of pop glory with 1989, Madonna will look to take back her crown in March when her new release, Rebel Heart, hits stores. Tracks from the album were leaked last year, which prompted Madonna and her team to release a few tunes months ahead of schedule. The alleged hacker was arrested in Israel earlier this month.
"[The suspect] broke into the personal computers of several international artists over the past few months and stole promotional final-cut singles which have yet to be released and traded them online for a fee," Israel's Lahav 433 -- that country's equivalent to the FBI -- wrote in a statement. "In light of the findings of the investigation the unit collaborated closely with the FBI, with suspicion of even more break-ins to computers owned by unknown international artists, stealing and selling their works."
Rebel Heart is slated for a March 10 release.
