Jeremy Camp released his new album, 'Icon,' today, July 16, following closely on the heels of his last album, 'Reckless,' which was released in February of this year.
The new album features and eleven track compilation of pre-released songs which have highlighted Camp's musical career thus far. These include fan favorites such as his worship songs, 'Overcome' and 'Beautiful One,' as well as other popular hits such as, 'There Will Be A Day,' 'The Way,' 'I Still Believe,' 'Take You Back' and more.
Camp's faith in God saw him through a very difficult time in his life. He lost his first wife, Melissa, to cancer when she was only 23 years old. Despite this traumatic experience, Camp continued to live a life of ministry and steadfast worship of God.
After Melissa died, Camp released his album, 'Stay,' which contains heart wrenching themes and an amazing level of trust in God's perfect will. The idea behind Camp's faith overcoming the hardship in his life is echoed in his hit song, 'I Still Believe,' which states, "I still believe in Your faithfulness/I still believe in Your truth/I still believe in Your Holy Word/Even when I don't see, I still believe." 'I Still Believe,' and 'Take My Life,' from his 2002 album, 'Stay' appear on his new album 'Icon' and add an element of vulnerability and steadfast faith.
Throughout his career, Camp has received five RIAA certified Gold-selling records, a 2008 GRAMMY® nomination for his album, 'Speaking Louder Than Before', five GMA Dove Awards, produced 32 No. 1 Christian radio hits, had four albums go gold and has sold over 3.5 million records to date. His latest album, 'Reckless,' debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Album chart when it was released in February.
This new album is similar to Camp's last pre-release compilation of songs, 'I Still Believe: The Number One Collection,' which was released last year, however, this album does not contain only No. 1 hit songs. It contains both pop songs and worship pieces, some of which were recorded for his live worship projects, 'Carried Me' and 'We Cry Out.'
Other songs on the album include 'This Man,' 'Tonight,' 'Lay Down My Pride,' and 'Understand.' The new album presents some of Camp's best music in a new way. It allows the wide-spread aspects of his career to gel in a unique way that ultimately documents Camp's success in combination with the hardship which he has faced.
