Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will take their show on the road, traveling to Central and South America for the first time in nearly 10 years. The JALC last travelled to our nearest neighboring continent during 2005 (from JazzTimes.com).
The "2015 Jazz Across America Tour" will open at Lincoln Center so its hime audience can bid it safe travels and then will head to the Caribbean for shows in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands before coming back to the mainland for a gig in Mexico City.
The longest stretch of the gig will occur in South America however and will include some more exciting performances. The orchestra will be joined by Gustavo Dudamel, the popular conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and native Venezuelan, in the conductor's homeland where he'll conduct the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar with them. The JALC will perform Marsalis' Swing Symphony while touring abroad. The group will also partake in educational workshops and other public performances while traveling down south.
