Brantley Gilbert Wrote a Special Song Before Proposing to His Fiance

Avert your eyes, fellas: Brantley Gilbert recently shared his proposal story, and it is tough to top. The 30-year-old country star finally popped the question to longtime on-again/off-again flame Amber Cochran. According to Gilbert, the two have known each other for 10 years, but went five of those years without speaking to each other. He wrote a special song before proposing to his fiance.

He always had a strong relationship with her late father, which influenced the proceedings.

"[The nerves leading up to asking her], they were insane," Gilbert told Country 1065 WYRK, via The Boot. "I had a plan, and I had a song. I wrote a song to her dad, actually. It was called 'Your Little Girl.'

"Me and her dad always had a cool little thing, like ... her mom knew I was trouble, and he did, too, but we kind of joked around. We were buddies until the girls walked in, and then he had to be all serious."

Gilbert said he wrote the song and then drove to Cochran's father's grave to "put the song down," which was his way of "askin' for his blessing since I couldn't ask him for it.

"I just kind of talked to him for a little bit and sang that song to her and asked her to marry me, and, my God, she said yes!"

Aww, heck.

But we are not finished yet. Gilbert also said he designed his fiance's ring himself.

"I put a black diamond on the band because black's kind of my thing," Gilbert said. "So when I'm out on the road and she misses me, she can pull it close, and I'll be close."

Gilbert scored his first No. 1 album in 2014, with Just as I Am. The LP featured the No. 1 single "Bottoms Up," which you can check out below:
