St. Vincent announces upcoming self-titled album, shares single 'Birth In Reverse' [LISTEN]

St. Vincent's Annie Clark has announced the release of an upcoming, self-titled studio album, the follow up to 2011's Strange Mercy.

According to a press release, Clark recorded the album in Dallas with Dap-Kings drummer Homer Steinweiss and Midlake percussionist McKenzie Smith. John Congleton (Modest Mouse, the Mountain Goats), who has helmed St. Vincent's Actor and Strange Mercy, will produce the album. "I knew the groove needed to be paramount," she said in the statement. "I wanted to make a party record you could play a funeral."

Along with the announcement, she shared "Birth In Reverse." In the gritty guitar-driven track, she sings, "Oh what an ordinary day / Take out the garbage, masturbate."

The 11-track effort, St. Vincent, is due out February 25 via her new label, Loma Vista/Republic Records. See out the tracklist below and check out "Birth In Reverse." You can also download the song here. Let us know what you think in the comments section!
