This weekend we brought you the exciting news that rapper T.I. and his wife Tony would star in their own animated Christmas special during December. Well, rock band Avenged Sevenfold won't star in their own cartoon, but its album Hail To The King will be adapted into one. Hail To The King (the TV series) will consist of six episodes uploaded to Machinima.com-an animation and video game-based website-on December 15.
What we can tell regarding the plot of Hail To The King based on its 45 second trailer: The members of Avenged Sevenfold won't be in it, as characters at least (albeit there's one character who looks like guitarist Zacky Vengeance). The main character seems to be a bearded, knight-type dude, who gets tortured and/or cloned by another evil guy (whose power seems to come from a medallion bearing the image of the winged-skull mascot of the band). From what we can tell, the protagonist might actually be named "Deathbat," but don't take our word for it.
There's also an epic battle scene between humans, orcs, and whatevers. The series is directed by Metalocalypse producer Jon Schnepp, so yes, expect lots of blood.
The series is reportedly leading into a mobile video game based on the album/cartoon series, titled Hail To The King: Deathbat. The relation between the series and the album is already a bit ambiguous, and the title song's music video doesn't give too many hints.
Our advice: Watch if you're an Avenged Sevenfold fan. If you're a Metalocalypse fan, maybe. But don't expect it to be funny.
