Following the release of his latest album, Black Panties, R. Kelly has announced a new album for 2014, an XXXmas record (if you will) called 12 Nights of Christmas (maybe this one will have a song called "Christmas Cookie!"). In an interview with Rap-Up, he has been working on the album for more than a year, and it should be ready for release during the 2014 holiday season.
"It's going to be a lot of love making," he told them. "I come with that bearing gifts." He explained that the reason he hasn't put it out yet is that he wants it to be an iconic album, not just a corny Christmas release to make a few bucks.
"I don't believe in just putting out a Christmas album just to sell records. It has to be the next ['This Christmas']. In order to get that and capture that moment, you have to take a couple of Christmases and then you come with it."
He also mentioned in the interview that his next album is halfway finished and that he has seven or eight more "sitting up like rockets ready to be launched." He described the full-length follow up to Black Panties saying, "This particular album I'm working on right now is going to be special. It's going to be another 12 Play album. It's gonna be that type of album because there has been a lovemaking album drought...and I come to save the day."
