U.K. producer and DJ Jon Gooch is reviving his long-dormant drum n' bass moniker Spor in 2015 with a new album. Gooch has been talking about the album for quite some time now, but it appears the talk is over and the new music will at last be released after going three years without releasing anything under the moniker. He is preparing his debut album as Spor, now titled Caligo, and it will be released March 9.
The album will be released through Gooch's recently created label Sotto Voce on BitTorrent March 9 and then iTunes and Beatport March 11.
He released a statement about why he decided to do the album now and how this one satisfied him personally as an artist, via Mixmag:
"I wanted to make sure I was doing it for my own reasons. Not to fill a space or do it just to appease people and I wanted to make sure that by the time I came back to doing it I felt as enthusiastic as I did previously about the music."
Gooch has announced a small U.K. tour under the Spor moniker, which he has not done in a long time. It will take him to cities like London, Manchester and Glasgow. There is no word on whether or not he will continue to tour as Spor rather then his more popular project Feed Me, but do not be surprised to see Spor on a few choice festival lineups this summer.
Gooch sees himself as a producer first and DJ second, so he is loath to make this about his live show. Purchase tickets to each concert on his website here.
UPDATE: Here is a BBC Radio One Rip of a new track from the album "As I Need You."
