Electronic music fans who don't eat, drink and breathe the genre can get their first listen to Tiësto's new single "Red Lights" today. The track was played for the first time during late November when Pete Tong, a BBC Radio 1 DJ renowned within the electronic scene, played the track during his show (you can listen to that broadcast below...just skip ahead to 0:35 in order to skip the vocal introduction. No offense, Pete).
The single is titled "Red Lights," a reference to traffic markers, not another element popular in the producer's homeland of the Netherlands. In terms of overall sound, listeners should expect something in pop-music EDM sphere, similar in style to Avicii's style on 2013's hit track "Wake Me Up!" No word on who the male vocalist featured on "Red Lights" is.
The sound makes sense, considering the recent announcement from Tiësto that he had signed with Universal Republic for the production of a new solo LP, due to be released at some point during 2014. Big-name labels such as Uni-Rep aren't going to take risks on up-and-comers, plus they're looking for someone to have exactly the kind of mainstream success that Avicii had. "Red Lights" certainly has the melodic hooks and riffs necessary to see similar success.
The producer has stated that "Red Lights" will be one of two singles debuted before the release of "Footprints," another track that Tiësto debuted at the Tomorowworld Festival during September.
Unfortunately, the track won't be available for download in the UK until February, but it's technically possible to download the American-version of iTunes in the UK. Trust us. We downloaded the Canadian version of the service to get this awesome Montreal-based pop album once.
