Instrumentalist Brandee Younger will be presenting her new performance piece Prophetika: An Oratorio, which will feature harpist Mia Theodoratus and pianist Courtney Bryan, for the Greenwich House Music School's Uncharted Concert Series.
Younger is a New York native and a classically trained artist, recognized in the jazz and hip-hop worlds. Making her mark in the jazz world, she has played along Ravi Coltrane, Jack DeJohnette, Reggie Workman, Charlie Haden, Bill Lee and Butch Morris. She has also crossed over to popular music, collaborating with producers and artists such as Common, Ryan Leslie, John Legend, Drake and Ski Beatz.
Her work has recently come to light when she was featured on the Grammy Award-nominated album New York: A Love Story by R&B newcomer Mack Wilds. She is the leader of the Brandee Younger Jazz Harp Quartet and "Afro Harping: A Tribute to Dorothy Ashby" in honor of the late jazz harp pioneer.
This show is part of the Greenwich House Music School’s Uncharted Concert series, which takes place every Thursday from March 12 through April 30. Younger's work will be the first exhibition of sketches from the performance piece Prophetika: An Oratorio and will feature Younger and Theodoratus on harp and Bryan on piano.
