Best Coast Announce New Album 'California Nights,' Show Dates & More [WATCH]

Best Coast have announced details on their upcoming third album in a new trailer video. Titled California Nights, the effort will drop May 5 via Harvest.

"Been keeping this secret long enough but it's finally time to share it -- thrilled to announce our third album California Nights is coming out May 5 on Harvest," the band said in a statement about the new album.

"In honor of the state that has inspired us on SO many levels, we are playing a few small shows in California to kick things off -- first show being of course in our beloved city of Los Angeles at The Echo on Thursday, February 19! More info coming soon, keep your ears + eyes open! xoBC"

California Nights follows up 2013's EP Fade Away and 2012's LP The Only Place. Singer Bethany Cosentino previously said that the new effort was inspired by '90s music as well as Drake, Gwen Stefani, The Go-Gos and Sugar Ray.

"I don't know if that's because I'm obsessed with the '90s, but I started listening to a lot of '90s stuff when we did Fade Away, and I was really happy with that EP and those songs," she told Rolling Stone back in 2013. "I felt like I wanted to almost do something that was an extension of that, almost like that EP is leading you in to our new record."

As far as Drake's influence on the effort, she says there won't be any rap but that his lyrics and emotion are a huge inspiration.

"This is going to sound totally weird, but Drake is a huge inspiration," she told RS. "It's not going to be a rap record, but in terms of lyrics and emotion. I cannot stop listening to Drake. I am obsessed. It's ridiculous how obsessed I am.

"When I listen to his music, what he's saying is so real and it doesn't feel sugarcoated or fake at all. I definitely took inspiration from that when writing lyrics. My lyrics have always been straightforward and honest and not sugarcoated but this time around I was like 'OK, I'm going to say what I have to say and I'm going to feel like Drake about it'. I'll just say it."
