Yesterday (July 2), the soundtrack for the upcoming young adult fantasy film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was announced. Jessie J, Owl City and Colbie Caillat are among artists on the soundtrack. However, fans of the franchise and Lovatics are most excited for the inclusion of a new Demi Lovato song "Heart By Heart."
"Heart By Heart" is reportedly set to be the main theme for the film. Today, a one-minute long snippet of the song was released.
Backed only by low piano chords, the preview begins with Lovato singing "When your soul finds the soul you've been looking for, / When someone walks into your heart through an open door, / When your hand finds the hand it was meant to hold, / Don't let go."
The ballad then builds with a drumbeat and the chorus is an explosion of epic sound fitting for a dramatic feature film. The format and feeling of the song is reminiscent of the Demi ballad "Nightingale."

Using a song from a popular artist like Lovato as the main theme for the movie seems to have been a good move for City of Bones. Lovato's fans have expressed their excitement for the new ballad. Last night, "Heart By Heart" was trending worldwide on Twitter.
"'Heart By Heart' is so amazing. It's made me so much more excited for City of Bones!!!" said @chartlottelrc. "I'm gonna try reading city of bones since demi did heart by heart," said @xArlanasRazzles.
It's unknown when the full version of "Heart By Heart" will be released in full. However, the Mortal Instruments: City of Bones soundtrack will be released Aug. 20. The film will be released the following day in the United States.
