We regret to say that Paul Bäumer, one half of the Dutch production duo Bingo Players, has passed away due to cancer. Member Maarten Hoogstraten made the announcement on Wednesday via the group's Facebook page.
Bäumer hadn't performed with Bingo Players for some time, having announced during July that he had been diagnosed with cancer. However he clarified that Hoogstraten would continue to tour under the Bingo Players name, and he himself would continue to make music. Hoogstraten announced in his statement that all Bingo Players show scheduled at this point have been cancelled.
The Bingo Players reached the Top 40 in Europe and the UK thanks to hits such as "Rattle" and "Cry (Just A Little)." That success pushed them to no. 66 on DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJ's list for 2012.
"Really saddened to hear about the loss of a wonderful human," tweeted EDM DJ Steve Aoki. "Honored to have known him. rest in peace paul. #paulbaumer @Bingo_players."
Hoogstraten's full statement is below:
Dear All,
I'm deeply saddened to tell you that Paul passed away last night after his battle with cancer. He fought strongly until the end.
We want to thank you all for your support over the past few months.
Needless to say, all upcoming shows for the rest of this year have been cancelled as we're going through this loss with family and friends. We'll post a longer update shortly with more information as well.
Paul, we will miss you.
