Madonna's 'Living For Love' No. 1 on Dance Club Chart, Tying Her with George Strait for Billboard Record

Madonna and the first official single from her forthcoming album Rebel Heart, "Living For Love," got to no. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart. That makes it the 44th song from the performer to top that particular chart, which ties her with George Strait for the most songs atop any single chart. He's been no. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart 44 times as well.

The Dance Club Songs chart relies on reports from club DJ's as to what songs they spin the most.

Strait held the record since at least 2009 when he topped Hot Country with "River of Love." However Strait played his (reportedly) final concert ever last year in Dallas, while Madonna hasn't shown any indication of calling it quits. Considering that her new album hasn't dropped yet, she may take singular control of the chart-topping record with another single from Rebel Heart.

"Live For Love" has gotten a huge boost in play, no doubt, after Madonna performed the song live at The Grammys the Sunday before last, and dropped a music video featuring the same Christian/Satanic themes.

Madonna's last no. 1 on the Dance Club Chart was "Turn Up The Radio" during 2012, a single from her last album MDNA. Her first time topping the chart came in 1982 when her "Holiday"/"Lucky Star" single stayed at no. 1 for five weeks. Interestingly, that's still the longest she's ever been at no. 1 on that chart, tying the mark only once when "Music" stayed at no. 1 for five weeks as well.

One thing's for sure, she can keep her eyes forward—it doesn't look like anyone will be catching her in terms of Dance Club no. 1s anytime soon. The nearest competitors are Beyoncé and Rihanna, who both have 22 no. 1s. Yeah, if you added up their total no. 1s they'll combine for the same amount that Madge currently holds. Until Madonna gets one more off of Rebel Heart, of course.
