BBC Radio One: Zane Lowe may be leaving BBC Radio One
The interview will be aired tomorrow night, Feb. 26, on BBC Radio One at 7 p.m. GMT, or 2 p.m. EST, for everyone on the East Coast. The whole affair will be filmed for Radio One, like last time.
The last interview has become something of a legend and produced some of the most memorable quotes of Kanye West's career, which is saying something.
Below are a few selections of the things he said during his hour with Lowe:
"I showed people that I understand how to make perfect. '... Dark Fantasy' could be considered perfect. But I'm not here to make perfect, I'm here to crack the pavement and make new grounds sonically and society, culturally."
"Look at [Lady] Gaga, she's the creative director of Polaroid. I like some of the Gaga songs. What the fuck does she know about cameras?"
"When someone comes up and says something like, 'I am a god,' everybody says, 'Who does he think he is?' I just told you who I thought I was: a god."
Zane Lowe recently announced that he was going to leave BBC Radio One for a position at Apple. He will be replaced by his once-time assistant and well-respected presenter, DJ and curator Annie Mac.
Lowe spoke to The Guardian about his decision to leave and what the opportunity with Apple presents.
"It's about being able to get great music to an audience on a global level. I know that there is an opportunity to come out here and to build something that will reach parts of the world that I've never reached before," he said.
This will be the latest in a string of interviews done by Kanye recently that have caused some headlines as he promotes the release of his new Yeezy shoes and his upcoming, still-untitled album.
