Zelda Williams Tells 'Today' That She Has Stopped Questioning Her Father's Suicide

It has been six months since Robin Williams chose to end his own life, and finally his daughter is ready to talk to the press. When she sat for an interview with Today's Kate Snow, Zelda Williams knew questions regarding her father's suicide were inevitable, but in order to continue the charity work he began, they were necessary. Williams wanted to bring attention to the Challenged Athlete Foundation, a charity that provides prosthetics to disabled athletes, and in doing so she opened up about her father a bit, saying she has stopped questioning her father's suicide.

One of Snow's obvious questions was about how Williams is doing now and if she understands what led her father to decide to end his life. It was pretty clear from her demeanor that Williams has given everything a lot of thought and has also sought help among other suicide survivors.

"It's going to take a lot of work to allow myself to have the sort of fun, happy life that I had, but that's important. Anybody who has ever lost anyone works very hard to continue that memory in a positive way. There's no point questioning it and no point blaming anyone for it, and there's no point blaming yourself or the world or whatever the case may be. Because it happened and you have to continue to move and you have to continue to live and manage," explained Williams.

She also said everyone she has met has managed to move on and have a happy life after a loved one takes their own life. She eventually realized that asking questions that cannot be fully answered is pointless. The reasons become irrelevant because nothing will change the outcome now. Instead, Williams has chosen to focus on supporting the charities that mattered most to Robin and also on promoting mental health awareness.

The one thing William refused to comment on is the battle currently going on over her father's will. She and her brothers have alleged that their father's widow has gone against his wishes on things, and it looks like they are headed toward a court battle for resolution.

Are you surprised that the usually quiet Williams has decided to speak out on behalf of her father's charities so soon after his death? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
