REVIEW: Kacey Musgraves Asks You To Mind Your Own 'Biscuits' in Catchy New Single [LISTEN]

On her breakthrough Grammy-winning album Same Trailer, Different Park, Kacey Musgraves told people to "Follow Your Arrow" wherever it goes. And now, in the new single from her sophomore major label effort, she's telling us all to mind our own business. Late last night (March 2), the first sampling of Musgraves' new album arrived online, and it's as fresh as "Biscuits."

Bringing in the same sass and lyrical wit that helped launch her to country music stardom, Musgraves is standing her ground in "Biscuits," especially because she doesn't think yours is any of her business (and vice versa).

"Just hoe your own row / And raise your own babies / Smoke your own smoke / And grow your own daisies / Mend your own fences / And own your own crazy / Mind your own biscuits / And life will be gravy," she sings in the chorus, with an upbeat swing and a happiness that helps the medicine go down.

Musically, Musgraves sets this track up to be a singalong chorus, adding in background vocalists just before the chorus kicks in for maximum effect. The lyrics are bouncy, catchy and easily memorable, making this a potential live hit.

It's hard not to compare "Biscuits" to "Follow Your Own Arrow" when the messages are somewhat similar and so is the music. But Musgraves wears this brand of country well, blending classic vocals and instrumentation with modern pop hooks and messages.
