Marilyn Manson currently covers the latest issue of Paper Mag, dressed as a Mickey Mouse from your nightmares. Now photos from the cover's Terry Richardson shoot have surfaced on the photographer's Instagram and Tumblr, and they include images of Manson, 46, and his father, Hugh Warner, dressed in full gothic makeup.
During the shoot, the shock rocker spoke to writer Kory Grow about the first time he saw his father in makeup.
"That's a good Ghost of Christmas Future," Manson told him of his father. "When I see pictures of my dad, I'm like, He looks like me. The first time I saw my dad in makeup was, ironically, the second concert I ever went to. He dressed as Gene Simmons and took me to the Kiss 'Dynasty' tour when I was 11. And people were asking my dad for his autograph."
Still on the topic of his father, he explained that he had been trying to persuade his father to move to Los Angeles in an effort to get to know him better, following the death of his mother, Barbara Warner. Landing a role on his father's favorite show, Sons of Anarchy, made it happen, and since his move, he's been able to learn more about his mother as well as his father's time in the military.
Elsewhere in the interview, he spoke about the impact the death of his mother had on him, getting healthy and working out, his relationship with girlfriend Lindsay Usich, his new daytime schedule, his views on organized religion, the complexity of belief systems, his encounters with ghosts, the fact that he has "empirical proof that his voice is of the devil" because his it has five tones (forming a pentagram on his audio analyzer screen and making it impossible to Auto-tune), his latest album The Pale Emperor and more.
