Kurt Cobain's Childhood Home on the Market for $400,000: Nirvana Fans Want to Make It a Museum

Kurt Cobain's childhood home is up for sale and it is on the market for $100,000 less than the last time it was on the auction block. You can purchase the Nirvana frontman's old home for a mere $400,000 now, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported. Cobain lived in the Aberdeen, Washington, house until he was 9 years old, returning for a few years during his late teenage period. Fan want to make it a museum.

According to real estate company Redfin, other homes in the area are going for $100,000. Cobain's two-bedroom still has holes in the walls that he punched in a fit of anger as well as Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden logos scribbled on the wall.

The house was on the market back in 2013 for $500,000, but nothing ever came from that. Fans are trying to raise money in order to purchase the house and turn it into a museum.

Cobain's story will be retold to the masses in the upcoming documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck. The doc premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. Critcs gave the film positive reviews.

"Some may question why the film itself ends when it does, but Morgen's narrative is based on Cobain's actions. These include his songs, words, videos and artwork. When Cobain ceases to provide these, the film can no longer continue," Consequence of Sound wrote. "The aftermath of his suicide is still felt, but so much of that comes down to how you felt about Nirvana's music ... As it stands, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is the only documentary you ever need to see about the life and actions of the brilliant, tortured musician."

Montage of Heck will premiere on HBO May 4. It features unheard recordings by the iconic artist as well as other previously unseen footage and home videos.
