When LeAnn Rimes was first caught cheating on then-husband Dean Sheremet with Lifetime movie co-star Eddie Cibrian, a huge scandal ensued. They found themselves on every tabloid cover, and eventually Rimes and Cibrian justified dumping their spouses -- Sheremet and Brandi Glanville -- because their love was the real deal. Here we are nearly six years later and, while Rimes and Cibrian are married, they are not respected. Sheremet recently decided to open up with a tell-all interview about what was no doubt been the messiest time of his life.
It is kind of funny because while Sheremet revealed in his interview with Natalie Thomas that he never thought Rimes would cheat on him, he did have Cibrian pegged from the jump.
"He was a good-looking guy. I just remember being like, 'Oh, God, just another one of those Hollywood pretty boys.' If you're in a room with him, he's probably one of the most charming people you'll ever meet. But I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw this f**king table ... he just felt like one of those guys from the beginning. A total schmoozer. Very Hollywood. I never bought his schtick. But I wasn't worried," explained Sheremet.
There has been a lot of commentary out there on how sad it is that Rimes appears to have sacrificed her career in order to keep both eyes fixed on a man she expects will stray. Sheremet also seemed to share that same opinion.
"She really lives on the adoration of others. I could be speaking out of turn but this is my perspective. She lives and dies on the perception of herself. She's one of the most talented people I've ever met, has the most incredible voice, she's flawless. But she got away from doing that and it breaks my heart. She's gone away from what she was put on this earth to do. It's all been at the expense of that. I think she learned a really hard lesson because it didn't pan out the way she wanted it to," he said.
Usually a tell-all comes across as vindictive and kind of hostile, but for some reason this one really does not read that way. Of course there are questions about why Sheremet decided to talk now after so many years, but perhaps he just got tired of purposely holding back.
Anyway you look at it, he is better off without Rhimes. Sheremet is remarried and a popular New York City chef and cookbook author. Meanwhile, she is probably stressing because Cibrian just landed a new acting gig that will take him away from her for several days a week. Should she be worried?
