This has been quite a year for violinist Lindsey Stirling. The dancing musician appeared in the Grammy Legacy concert and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Now, Stirling has been announced as one of the 50 musicians who are winners at the 2015 YouTube Music Awards. Other artists include heavy-hitters such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.
The YouTube Awards are not just a fan vote of their favorite artists. Instead, the winners were selected based on growth in views, subscribers and engagement over the last six months on YouTube. In an announcement, YouTube said that the artists picked were watched more than 47 billion times collectively. The 50 acts chosen have more than 164 million subscribers altogether.
Other artists to be recognized include Ariana Grande, Hozier, Ed Sheeran, Brad Paisley and One Direction. Stars who got their big break on YouTube were not left out of the mix, such as Stirling and Pentatonix.
