After releasing his collaboration "I Want You To Know" with girlfriend Selena Gomez, Zedd has now revealed details on his follow-up to 2012's Clarity. Speaking to radio station 97.1 AMP (via EDM Sauce), the Russian DJ said he plans to release the new album, three years in the making, by spring.
"[I am] really far advanced in my album right now. It's probably still going to take me a good month, a month-and-a-half to finish it - you know the last touches," he told them.
Like most of his songs off his debut album, he focused heavily on musicianship by playing the majority of tracks on piano.
"That was kind of the idea on this album, so long as I take care of that, the songs won't get old," he explained.
"I Want You To Know" is the first single on the album and was penned by OneRepublic singer and prolific pop producer/writer Ryan Tedder.
In a previous interview with 97.1 AMP Radio, Zedd revealed the genesis of the song.
"I had the day off... and I decided to go buy stuff for my house because I just moved, so I have an empty house, and I had to pee. I had my engineer with me, so I was like, 'I hope they have a bathroom.' He was like, 'Just go to the studio over there,' which was across the street from my studio. He's like, 'They have a bathroom, just go and use that,'" Zedd explained.
"So I walk in, and John, the head of our label, who had just signed Selena, was there. He was like, 'Have you ever met Selena?' That was literally the next thing he said. So he introduced me to her, and was like, 'Hey, she's cool, maybe we should make a song together.' And then like a week later, we start working on a song. All because I had to pee."
No official release date or tracklist have been revealed for the upcoming album. However, we'll update you as more information becomes available.
