Lauren Conrad Doesn't Believe Women Have to Be Divas to Be Heard

Every once in a while we get to hear from a former reality star who walked away from sensationalized television in favor of a real life, and Lauren Conrad is one of those people. She was smart enough to know that using her time on The Hills as a springboard to a real career in fashion could be done. Nearly a decade ago fans were watching her intern at Teen Vogue, and now at age 29 Conrad is running her own empire. She also insists that women do not need to be a diva to get things done, be heard or be successful.

Conrad is currently covering the April 2015 issue of Redbook, and in the accompanying interview she talks about life in the business world.

"Over the last few years I've been able to work with several women who I really respected because they didn't take on that role of being a b***h. They were strong, but they were kind and they didn't need to shout to be heard. A lot of women feel like they need to be tough in order to be taken seriously. We have this idea that kindness is weakness, which I don't think is true," explains Conrad.

Conrad's career is totally thriving. Aside from her fashion line, she is also now a lifestyle guru with eco-friendly products and products aimed at making a green lifestyle a bit easier. While her work life is great, it has not been at any cost to her personal life. Conrad married William Tell, formerly of Something Corporate, last fall and seems to be happier than ever.

It is interesting how only a few reality stars seem to really land on their feet without falling on some hard times first. Do you think a little bit of luck is involved or is it really about the individual person and the choices that they decide to make? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
