It looks like DWTS's Karina Smirnoff has another story to add while in the midst of her current promotional tour to support her book We're Just Not That Into You: Dating Disasters from the Trenches. It was announced this morning, March 11, that her engagement to third fiance Jason Adelman is over just several weeks after he put a ring on it. Adelman also has raised eyebrows by insinuating that Smirnoff and the rest of the dance community have questionable morals and that her flirtatiousness caused the split.
According to a report by TMZ, "It's not like this was any longterm engagement -- he just popped the question in January ... after they reconnected at a holiday party in December. As for his belief that dancers are all horned up people looking to bang -- a rep for Karina says that is 'disrespectful and insulting to the entire dance community.'
'Our Adelman sources add that he feels Karina's track record speaks for itself ... she's been engaged twice before -- to fellow dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy and MLB pitcher Brad Penny -- but never made it down the aisle. So much for the third time. Karina's rep also says this is 'nothing less than an attempted smear campaign from a malicious person.'"
Smirnoff also dated Mario Lopez for a few years during her early days on Dancing with the Stars. It looks like she has a pretty consistent pattern of aligning herself with men and diving head-first into relationships that are destined to end badly. Let's hope her work life continues to thrive. Smirnoff confirmed last month that she would be leaving DWTS to pursue acting, writing and other ventures that appeal to her.
Is Smirnoff one of those women who is always going to end up in exactly the same position with every guy she dates? Maybe rather than writing another book on dating she should read a few, right? Comment below.
