Usually when you hear Angie Stone's name mentioned it's in reference to the 5 million albums that she has sold worldwide or those Grammy nominations that she has earned. Unfortunately the 53-year-old R&B diva has grabbed headlines for a violent domestic incident that her occurred at her home near Atlanta on Monday. Stone and her 30-year-old daughter, Diamond Stone, got into a physical altercation that ended with Diamond losing teeth and Stone sitting in a jail cell under arrest.
Several outlets such as TMZ have reported that Stone asked her daughter to clean up after her children and that Diamond allegedly responded by punching her mother. When Stone retaliated, she decided to use a metal stand to defend herself and allegedly knocked out two of Diamond's teeth with it.
"A police report quoted her daughter as saying Angie Stone came into her room demanding her to clean it up. Diamond Stone said her mother also told her to control her children, who were running around the house half-naked. A fight broke out, according to police. Diamond Stone could not remember who lashed out first, the report stated. She said her mom struck her with a metal stand, knocking out her front teeth, police said," according to WGCL's report.
Ironically, in the past Stone has said that part of her longevity in the music business is because she chooses to keep things classy and remain an example of someone that the up-and-coming singers can emulate. Our guess is that this is one of those incidents that Stone really wishes didn't occur. As of now, Stone has been charged with domestic aggravated assault and while Diamond was also arrested at the scene she was never actually charged with anything.
