Though the festival is far away in December, Totem OneLove's Stereosonic has announced its 2015 festival dates and given a timeline for more information on venues and ticketing later on in the year. Over the weekend, the festival announced it would be returning for a ninth consecutive year and shared the dates last night, March 15. The most noticeable change for 2015 will be the return to a one-day format, as opposed to the two-day format that it has been doing over the past few years.
In a Facebook post, organizers explained why they were reverting back to a single day for the traveling Australian festival:
"The two day concept started as a special celebration of our 5th year anniversary. We loved it so much that we were seduced into doing it again for a second year, however the change was never meant to be permanent and we are going back to our original format of one day."
This format will mean lower ticket prices at under $130 in all cities, though the organizers promise a "killer lineup" even with just one day to program.
The Adelaide and Melbourne editions take place on the same day, which seems odd logistically, but "With the miracle of air travel, artists are able to travel between both cities and perform on the same day."
They just better hope there are not delays getting to and from airports or bad weather that may ground airplanes.
Venue information will be revealed around Easter and the lineup and tickets will be released in July. Stay tuned to the festival's socials and website for information as it is released.
