Drake, OVO Disown 'Drake: Homecoming: The Lost Footage' Concert Film Before March 19 Release at AMC Theaters

If you've wondered why Drake has not promoted or barely acknowledged the little heard or talked about upcoming documentary Drake: Homecoming: The Lost Footage, there's good reason for that. Despite being the star of the film and having his name in the title, the "Energy" rapper has revealed that he has no connection to and has not worked on the movie.

In a statement on his Twitter, Drake revealed that neither he nor his company OVO has any connection to the film, saying it was his "responsibility to inform and protect my fans."

Instead, the movie was created and produced by Drake's loose associated, J. Prince and Jas Prince.

Drake's lack on involvement of the unofficial film explains why little has been heard about Drake: Homecoming, as Paper Magazine points out. Easily one of the biggest names in rap, a one-off documentary about Drake should be making a huge splash across the Internet and music industry. But, instead, the "official" trailer for the movie only has 3500 views on YouTube and Drizzy himself has remained silent on the film until now.

Drake: Homecoming features footage from a 2009 Toronto concert put on by Drake shortly before he signed with Little Wayne and Young Money. The footage was apparently "lost" until now, according to the YouTube video description. The documentary also features talking heads with various industry folks about the massive rise of Drake.

The rapper himself, however, only appears in the newly found live footage.

Despite not being an official Drake film, Drake: Homecoming: The Lost Footage will be released for one night only on March 19 at AMC Theaters.
